Who really leads the way in executive reputation in Spain?

Enigmia has analyzed the reputation of the presidents of companies listed on the Spanish Continuous Market during the first half of 2026.

The result is not just a ranking by notoriety. It's a snapshot of how top business leaders translate their media presence into reputational impact, what narratives underpin their position, and where their main strengths and risks lie.

  • 130 presidents analyzed
  • 28,219 unique pieces of information
  • 4,385 national and international media outlets
  • 50 presidents included in the detailed ranking

Visibility and impact are not the same thing

Marc Murtra, president of Telefónica, tops the ranking for Accumulated Reputational Impact, followed by Ana Botín, president of Banco Santander, and Enrique Riquelme, president of Cox.

But occupying more space in the public conversation does not mean making better use of it.

The study distinguishes between two forms of leadership:

  • Cumulative Reputational Impact — IR(a): It measures the total magnitude of reputation generated during the semester.
  • Communication Performance — DC: It measures what percentage of potential reputational impact a president achieves with each appearance.

This separation allows us to identify who dominates the conversation and who most effectively converts their exposure into reputation. The results show that these two leadership styles do not always coincide.

The quality of the story determines the outcome.

The analysis identifies four reputational positions among the presidents of the Continuous Market:

  • Leaders who combine presence and efficiency
  • profiles with a solid narrative that is still not widely known
  • exposed presidents whose visibility does not fully translate into reputation
  • actors with a public position yet to be built.

The difference doesn't depend solely on how much each president appears in the media. It depends on their prominence, the treatment they receive, the relevance of the media coverage, and the dimensions upon which their leadership is built.

The report also reveals a significant imbalance: while results, corporate operations, and financial strategy dominate the conversation, dimensions such as integrity, talent, and innovation occupy far less space. This absence opens up areas for differentiation, but also reveals potential blind spots.
